We have a clinical intern program at Island Clinical Counselling.  Our interns go through an interview process and must have prior experience in order to join our team.  Our interns offer lower rates for counselling for children, youth, adults, couples, and families.  They are closely supervised by our clinic director and other Registered Clinical Counsellors.  All interns offer sliding scale counselling. Intern sessions cannot be reimbursed by insurance but we have a “Pay What You Can Program” for further reductions in the cost of services.

Why Book with an Intern?

Interns have a fresh perspective in the counselling room. They have just taken a host of courses and their knowledge is up to date.  Often interns have new energy that enhances their work.  Interns at Island Clinical Counselling must have prior experience in order to work at the clinic.  These are not fresh out of school graduates with little life or work experience.  Interns provide the same service as Registered Clinical Counsellors at a fraction of the price.  By seeing an intern, you are supporting them in their journey to register as a clinical counsellor.

What is the Pay What You Can Program?

This program is offered to all individuals no matter what their financial situation. We do not ask for personal financial information when assessing your need for this program.  If you ask for this program you are entitled to it.  Please let us know at the time of booking that you would like to access the Pay What You Can Program.  You will be asked to identify the amount your family is comfortable paying and this will be updated on your account with us.
