Wendee Byrne

Hi, I’m Wendee.
I have often been told that I bring a warm, authentic, and personable style to my work, and creating a space where people feel comfortable, understood, and genuinely supported is very important to me.
I draw on more than 25 years of experience as an educator working with children, youth, and adults, along with 12 years of clinical counselling experience, which allows me to offer both a broad perspective and practical, real-life tools to help people move toward their counselling goals.
I hold a Master’s degree in Special Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Counselling Psychology, and I am both a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC).
I work with children, youth, adults, couples, and families facing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem concerns, relationship difficulties, parenting stress, behavioural concerns, and life transitions.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and strengths-based. I integrate evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)/DBT, EMDR, mindfulness-based approaches, trauma-informed practice, and practical skill-building strategies that clients can use in everyday life.
When working with children and youth, I often incorporate art, play, and creative interventions to support emotional regulation, confidence, and communication. With parents and families, I provide practical strategies to improve connection, behaviour management, and family communication. In couples counselling, I help partners better understand patterns, strengthen communication, and build healthier emotional connections.
My goal is to help people feel supported, empowered, and equipped with meaningful tools that create lasting positive change.

Lisa Bradshaw

Counselling Practicum Student & Licensed School Psychologist
“Meaningful change begins with understanding, connection, and the belief that growth is possible.”
Hello! My name is Lisa, and I am a counselling practicum intern with Island Clinical Counselling. My approach is trauma-informed and grounded in compassion, curiosity, and collaboration. I strive to create a safe, warm, and inclusive environment where you feel heard, understood, and respected.
I believe every person has strengths and the capacity for growth—even during periods of stress, overwhelm, or uncertainty. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I work alongside you to understand your experiences, identify what matters most, and develop practical strategies that fit your needs and circumstances. Together, we can work toward greater understanding, more effective coping skills, and meaningful, sustainable change.
Before beginning my counselling practicum, I gained extensive experience supporting children, youth, and families across several British Columbia school districts and communities. I have worked as a classroom teacher, inclusion support teacher, and school psychologist. This background has given me a strong understanding of how emotional well-being, relationships, learning, development, social experiences, and life circumstances can affect daily functioning.
I am particularly passionate about supporting neurodivergent children, youth, and adults, as well as parents and families navigating learning, developmental, emotional, or behavioural concerns. I approach neurodiversity from an affirming perspective, recognizing that each person has their own way of experiencing and interacting with the world. My goal is to help clients understand their needs and strengths without treating differences as something that needs to be corrected.
Taking the first step toward seeking support can feel difficult, but you do not have to navigate things alone. Whether you are looking for support for yourself, your child, your relationship, or your family, I welcome the opportunity to connect and explore how we might work together.
