Groups for Neurodivergent Adults
Online & in-person opportunities throughout the year
We aim to make our services more affirming by intentionally omitting the “D” from ADHD and ASD in our communications. Our clinic is committed to a neurodiversity-affirming approach, emphasizing that individuals who are Autistic or have ADH are not disordered. Instead, their experiences are shaped by societal barriers. Our counselling focuses on supporting clients to adapt their environment rather than encouraging them to change themselves to fit into societal norms.
Online Adult Autism Group
Autistic adults · no diagnosis required
Do you want to connect with others on the autism journey? Join our virtual support group for autistic adults to connect with others and feel included and accepted (no diagnosis required). This group is a safe space to share your experiences and find new strategies. Brittany, a registered clinical counsellor, will lead the group and provide helpful insights about autistic brain functions and behaviours to support everyone in achieving positive outcomes.

Embrace Your (Neurodivergent) Mind
Adults with ADH & autism — diagnosed, questioning, or supporting others
Neurodivergent Life Skills Counselling: individuals with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity (ADH) and autism face distinctive challenges when it comes to everyday tasks. This series of workshops delves into topics particularly relevant to these experiences. Developed by a neurodivergent counsellor, it aims to create a supportive space for the broader community, especially for those late-discovered or questioning their ADH or autism. Everyone is welcome: diagnosed, questioning, or folks who want to support others who are neurodiverse. This is a neurodiverse-affirming workshop series that aims to increase self-acceptance and coping skills in a world not designed for neurodivergent brains.
If the schedule is not posted yet, please email admin@islandclinicalcounselling.ca to be put on the list.
BFRB Support Group
Adults with body-focused repetitive behaviours
Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BFRBs) can include compulsive hair-pulling, skin-picking, or nail-biting. This free virtual group is a space for people to connect with others with similar lived experiences and navigate the challenges of BFRBs. It is hosted by Jason Yu.
Autistic Young Adults D&D Therapy Group
Ages 17–24 · small 4-person therapy group
If you or someone you know is looking to build confidence, connection, and social skills in a supportive, low-stress environment, this group may be a strong fit. This small, therapist-facilitated Dungeons & Dragons therapy group is designed for autistic young adults ages 17 to 24 who may benefit from support with social communication, emotional regulation, flexibility, confidence, and connection with others. Through shared gameplay and guided group interaction, participants can practise real-time social skills in a structured, engaging, and supportive environment.
With only four participants, the group offers a more manageable social setting with strong individual support, predictable participation, and meaningful engagement. Participants can build communication, teamwork, perspective-taking, resilience, and self-understanding through a collaborative adventure with peers. No previous Dungeons & Dragons experience is needed.
